| CAVIN3 (Caveolae-Associated Protein 3; PRKCDBP/SRBC) — Caveolae-associated signaling protein and protein kinase C delta (PRKCD/PKCδ)-binding protein involved in regulation of intracellular signaling, caveolar function, and cytoskeletal organization. Older literature may refer to CAVIN3 as PRKCDBP, SRBC, or HSRBC. Typical modulation in cancer: Generally considered tumor-suppressive in several cancer contexts. Loss or reduced expression of CAVIN3/PRKCDBP has been reported in malignancy and may favor abnormal growth and survival signaling; therefore CAVIN3 ↑ is generally interpreted as potentially anticancer, although effects can be tissue- and pathway-dependent. Typical modulation in Alzheimer’s disease: No well-established Alzheimer’s disease-associated direction. Its relevance is primarily through caveolar and intracellular signaling rather than a recognized core AD mechanism. Recommended abbreviation: CAVIN3; aliases: PRKCDBP, SRBC, HSRBC. |
