uPAR Cancer Research Results

uPAR, Urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor: Click to Expand ⟱
Source:
Type:
uPAR is a target for the treatment of cancer, because it is expressed at low levels in healthy tissues but at high levels in malignant tumours.
uPAR is typically overexpressed in breast cancer tissues relative to normal breast epithelium. • Prognosis:
– High uPAR levels correlate with increased invasiveness, higher grades, and an overall poorer prognosis.
• Function:
uPAR contributes to tumor cell migration and invasion, supporting a protumor role.

uPAR is considered protumor because its overexpression facilitates extracellular matrix degradation, enhances cell migration/invasion, and supports signaling pathways that promote tumor progression.

PC, Pancreatic Cancer: Click to Expand ⟱
Pancreatic Cancer: Hypoxia (low oxygen tension) is commonly found in solid tumors. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1),is a key mediator of the cellular response to hypoxia and is overexpressed in a wide variety of solid tumors, including pancreatic cancer.
Nanog is highly expressed in CSCs compared to normal cells [93–97]
HIF-1↑
