| The RB1 gene is a critical tumor suppressor gene that plays a significant role in regulating the cell cycle, thereby preventing uncontrolled cell growth and tumor formation. The RB1 gene encodes the retinoblastoma protein (pRB), which helps control the cell cycle by regulating the transition from the G1 (gap 1) phase to the S (synthesis) phase.
