PTK2B / PYK2 (protein tyrosine kinase 2 beta) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase activated by calcium, integrins, GPCRs, cytokines, and cellular stress. It regulates focal adhesions, cytoskeletal organization, migration, survival, immune signalling, and synaptic function. Increased PYK2 activation commonly supports cancer invasion, metastasis, EMT, and treatment resistance, so inhibition or reduced phosphorylation is usually considered beneficial in cancer studies.
