| ATGL is encoded by PNPLA2 and catalyzes the first major step in lipid-droplet triglyceride breakdown. ATGL is a valid cancer-metabolism target, but its direction is strongly context-dependent. Increased ATGL may supply fatty acids for β-oxidation and tumour growth in some cancers; in other settings, reduced ATGL promotes lipid-droplet accumulation and tumour development. |
