| TCF7 - T Cell Factor 7 / TCF-1 Abbreviation: TCF7, TCF-1, TCF1 Type: Transcription factor / Wnt-pathway effector / T-cell differentiation regulator Function: TCF7 encodes the transcription factor TCF-1, a major regulator of T-cell development, differentiation, memory, and stemness. In chronically stimulated T cells, TCF7 identifies and helps maintain a stem-like or progenitor-exhausted population capable of self-renewal and differentiation into downstream effector and exhausted T-cell populations. Cancer: ↑ Favorable in the antitumor immune compartment. High TCF7/TCF-1 expression marks stem-like CD8+ T cells with enhanced persistence, self-renewal, and capacity to respond to immune checkpoint blockade. TCF7-high T-cell populations are associated with improved antitumor immunity and more durable responses to immunotherapy. Interpretation should distinguish expression in immune cells from expression within tumor cells. |
