Function: Reaction time measures the interval between presentation of a sensory stimulus and initiation or completion of a behavioral response. It reflects processing speed and can incorporate sensory perception, attention, decision-making, executive processing, and motor response components.

Alzheimer's Disease: ↑ Reaction time is generally prolonged in Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment, reflecting slower information processing, impaired attention, executive dysfunction, and neurological decline. A decrease in reaction time during treatment or intervention generally represents improved cognitive or psychomotor performance.

Direction: ↓ Faster reaction time is generally favorable; ↑ slower reaction time is generally unfavorable.
