ILC2 - Group 2 Innate Lymphoid Cells

Type: Innate immune-cell population / type-2 immune effector cells

Function: ILC2 cells are innate lymphoid cells strongly activated by IL-33 through ST2/IL1RL1. Activated ILC2 cells produce cytokines including IL-5 and IL-13 and regulate eosinophils, macrophage polarization, dendritic-cell function, tissue repair, and type-2 immune responses.

Cancer: ↕ Context-dependent. ILC2 cells can promote tumor-supportive type-2 inflammation and immunosuppression in some tumors but can also enhance antitumor immunity by supporting dendritic-cell activation, cytotoxic T-cell responses, eosinophils, and other immune-effector populations.
