SPARC, secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine: Click to Expand ⟱
Source:
Type:
SPARC (a secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine) has a reputation for being potent anti-cancer and anti-obesity molecule. It is one of the first known matricellular protein that modulates interactions between cells and extracellular matrix (ECM) and is associated with the ‘balance’ of white adipose tissue (WAT) as well as lipogenesis and lipolysis during adipogenesis. Adipogenesis is an indication for the development of obesity and has been related to a wide variety of cancers including breast cancer, endometrial cancer, esophageal cancer, etc.
In highly metastatic tumors, such as glioblastomas, melanoma, breast cancer and prostate cancer, SPARC promotes bone metastasis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In contrast, this protein acts as an anti-tumor factor in anti-angiogenesis, pro-apoptosis, cell proliferation inhibition and cell cycle arrest in less metastatic tumors, such as neuroblastoma, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer and gastric cancer.
SPARC is an essential Ca -binding protein involved in cell proliferation, dierentiation, and migration.

- in-vitro, Pca, NA
CXCc↓, Curcumin downregulates the inflammatory cytokines CXCL1 and -2 in metastatic prostate cancer by targeting NFκB signaling
IκB↓,
NF-kB↓, The proinflammatory cytokines CXCL1/-2 act in a feedback loop reversely on the NFκB pathway

SPARC↓,
EFEMP↓,
IKKα↓, We show that curcumin acts on the activation of NFκB through the stabilization of IκB in prostate cancer cells ju

3604- QC,    Quercetin enrich diet during the early-middle not middle-late stage of alzheimer’s disease ameliorates cognitive dysfunction
- in-vivo, AD, NA
*cognitive↑, early-middle stage of AD pathological development period ameliorates cognitive dysfunction and the protection effect was mainly related to increased Aβ clearance and reduced astrogliosis.
*Aβ↓, Quercetin enrich diet prevented cognitive dysfunction through increasing Aβ clearance and astrocyte function. has been demonstrated that it could inhibit the aggregation of Aβ
*neuroP↑, quercetin may have neuro-protective effects and slow down the progression of degenerative diseases
*BACE↓, The results showed that the protein level of CTFβ and BACE1 was decreased
*p‑SMAD2↓, protein level of p-Smad2 and p-STAT3 were decreased in quercetin enrich diet
*p‑STAT3↓,
*SPARC↓, quercetin enrich diet (1 month-9 months) significantly reduced the mRNA and protein level of Hevin and SPARC compared with normal diet.
