Granzyme B is a serine protease that is expressed by cytotoxic T cells and natural killer cells, and plays a crucial role in the immune system's ability to eliminate infected cells and tumor cells. Granzyme B works in conjunction with perforin to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in target cells.

In the context of cancer, granzyme B has been found to have both positive and negative effects.
