Type:
MUC1-C is a truncated form of the MUC1 protein that is generated through alternative splicing.
MUC1-C lacks the extracellular domain of MUC1 and is instead localized to the cytoplasm and nucleus. MUC1-C has been shown to have distinct functions from MUC1, including the regulation of cell growth, survival, and transformation.
MUC1-C is often overexpressed in cancer cells and can contribute to oncogenesis by promoting cell proliferation, inhibiting apoptosis, and enhancing metastasis.

1022- EDM,    Evodiamine suppresses non-small cell lung cancer by elevating CD8+ T cells and downregulating the MUC1-C/PD-L1 axis
- in-vivo, Lung, H1975 - in-vitro, Lung, H1650
TumCG↓,
Apoptosis↑,
TumCCA↑, cell cycle arrest at G2 phase
PD-L1↓,
MUC1-C↓,
TumVol↓, reduced tumor size

4911- Sal,    MUC1-C is a target of salinomycin in inducing ferroptosis of cancer stem cells
- in-vitro, Var, DU145
MUC1-C↓, Our results show that SAL-induced MUC1-C suppression downregulates a MUC1-C→MYC pathway
Ferroptosis↑, SAL as a unique small molecule inhibitor of MUC1-C signaling and demonstrate that MUC1-C is an important effector of resistance to ferroptosis.
CSCs↓, SAL is an effective inhibitor of CSCs
NF-kB↓, SAL suppressed MUC1-C and NF-κB expression in DU-145 and H660 cells
GSR↓, MUC1-C induces GSR expression and GSH production. We found that SAL treatment decreases GSR mRNA and protein levels
GSH↑,
Iron↑, SAL kills CSCs by sequestering iron in lysosomes and inducing ferroptosis
