Type:
HIF-2α (Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 2 alpha), also known as EPAS1, is a transcription factor that plays a key role in the cellular response to hypoxia (low oxygen conditions). In cancer, HIF-2α is involved in regulating genes that promote angiogenesis, metabolism, cell proliferation, and survival.

-Tumors often experience hypoxia due to rapid cell growth outpacing vascular supply. This leads to the stabilization and upregulation of HIF-2α.
-Elevated HIF-2α expression has been observed in several cancer types, including renal cell carcinoma, glioma, lung, breast, and colorectal cancers.
