ALDOC - Aldolase C, Fructose-Bisphosphate

Type: Glycolytic enzyme / fructose-bisphosphate aldolase

Function: ALDOC is a glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate into glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. It is highly expressed in the central nervous system and contributes to glucose metabolism, cellular energy production, and metabolic adaptation.

Cancer: ↕ Context-dependent. ALDOC expression is altered in multiple cancers and can influence glycolytic metabolism, proliferation, migration, and tumor progression. Increased ALDOC may support metabolic demands in some tumors, whereas reduced expression has been associated with more aggressive disease in other cancer types.
