Function: miR-10a-5p is a mature microRNA that regulates gene expression by binding target mRNAs and promoting transcript degradation or translational repression. It influences pathways involved in proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, migration, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and tumor microenvironment regulation.

Cancer: ↕ Context-dependent. miR-10a-5p can function as either an oncogenic microRNA or a tumor-suppressive microRNA depending on cancer type and the dominant target genes. Increased miR-10a-5p promotes proliferation, invasion, metastasis, or treatment resistance in some tumors, whereas in other cancers increased miR-10a-5p suppresses oncogenic targets and inhibits malignant progression.
