TfR1/CD71, Transferrin receptor protein 1,: Click to Expand ⟱
| Source: |
| Type: gene/protein |
Also called CD71
A protein that in humans is encoded by the TFRC gene. A protein that mediates iron uptake from transferrin into cells.
Transferrin receptor, which can control iron metabolism, is frequently expressed in tumor cells.
As is well known, TfR1 binds to iron-loaded transferrin and plays a pivotal role in cellular uptake of iron as well as ferritin sequesters and stores the cellular iron.

TumCG↓, Importantly, IONs have demonstrated a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of tumors, including hematopoietic and lymphoid tumors, such as leukemia.
Ferroptosis↑, we further demonstrated the effect of IONs on inhibiting the growth of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cells by enhancing ferroptosis-mediated cell death.
i-Iron↑, IONs treatment caused an accumulation of intracellular ferrous iron and the onset of lipid peroxidation in DLBCL cells as well as the suppressed expression of anti-ferroptosis protein Glutathione Peroxidase 4 (GPX4), thereby leading to increased ferr
lipid-P↑,
GPx4↓, expression of ferroptosis negative regulators such as GPX4 and SLC40A1 was significantly decreased after IONs treatment
ROS↑, Mechanistically, IONs increased cellular lipid peroxidation through the generation of ROS via the Fenton reaction
Fenton↑,
TfR1/CD71↝, regulating the iron metabolism-related proteins, such as ferroportin (FPN) and transferrin receptor (TFR), which elevated the intracellular labile iron pool (LIP).
FPN↝,
LIP↑,
TumCP↓, IONs inhibited cell proliferation while induced apoptosis in DLBCL
Apoptosis↑,
TumCG↓, IONs inhibited the growth of xenograft tumor
