| Features: |
Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used mainly for GERD, ulcers, and other acid-related disorders. Pharmacologically, it is a benzimidazole prodrug that becomes active in an acidic environment and irreversibly inhibits the gastric H+/K+-ATPase proton pump, reducing stomach acid secretion.
-Possible long-term cancer risk associations, especially for gastric cancer in observational studies
-Possible Direct anticancer or chemosensitizing effects in preclinical models.
