| HOTAIR - HOX Transcript Antisense RNA Type: Long non-coding RNA / epigenetic regulator Function: HOTAIR is a trans-acting long non-coding RNA transcribed from the HOXC locus. It regulates gene expression and chromatin organization through interactions with epigenetic regulators including PRC2/EZH2 and LSD1 and can also modulate microRNAs, transcription factors, protein stability, and intracellular signaling pathways. Cancer: ↑ Frequently overexpressed in human cancers. Elevated HOTAIR promotes proliferation, survival, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, migration, invasion, metastasis, cancer stem-like properties, and resistance to anticancer therapy. High HOTAIR expression is commonly associated with aggressive disease and poorer prognosis. |
