| O-GlcNAcylation - O-Linked β-N-Acetylglucosamine Modification Type: Post-translational protein modification / metabolic signaling process Function: O-GlcNAcylation is the reversible addition of O-linked β-N-acetylglucosamine to serine and threonine residues of intracellular proteins. OGT adds O-GlcNAc and OGA removes it. O-GlcNAcylation links nutrient availability and the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway to transcription, signaling, metabolism, stress responses, chromatin regulation, and protein stability. Cancer: ↑ Frequently elevated or dysregulated in cancer. Increased O-GlcNAcylation can promote proliferation, survival, metabolic reprogramming, oncogenic signaling, epigenetic dysregulation, migration, invasion, metastasis, and treatment resistance.
