| JPT1 (Jupiter Microtubule-Associated Homolog 1; HN1) — Conserved intracellular protein involved in regulation of cell proliferation, cell-cycle progression, microtubule dynamics, differentiation, migration, and intracellular signaling. JPT1 was historically known as hematological and neurological expressed 1 (HN1). Typical modulation in cancer: ↑ JPT1/HN1 is generally associated with tumor progression, proliferation, migration, invasion, metastasis, dedifferentiation, and poorer prognosis. JPT1/HN1 depletion has been reported to induce cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis in several cancer models. Typical modulation in Alzheimer’s disease: No well-established Alzheimer’s disease-associated direction. JPT1/HN1 has neurological expression and roles in neuronal differentiation and regeneration, but it is not currently a core AD target. |
