| miR-10b-5p (microRNA-10b-5p) — Mature regulatory microRNA derived from MIR10B that controls gene expression through post-transcriptional repression of target mRNAs. miR-10b-5p regulates cellular proliferation, survival, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), migration, invasion, and metastatic progression. Typical modulation in cancer: Context-dependent, but frequently oncogenic. ↑ miR-10b-5p is strongly associated with increased invasion and metastasis in several cancers and has been linked to poorer clinical outcomes. In breast cancer, miR-10b promotes invasion and metastasis in part through repression of HOXD10. However, tumor-suppressive effects have also been reported in certain cancer types, so a universal ↑ or ↓ cancer direction should not be assigned. Typical modulation in Alzheimer’s disease: No well-established Alzheimer’s disease-associated direction. Current evidence is insufficient to treat miR-10b-5p as a core AD target. |
