| RASSF1A (Ras Association Domain Family Member 1, Isoform A) — Tumor-suppressive isoform of the RASSF1 gene involved in regulation of apoptosis, cell-cycle progression, microtubule stability, mitotic control, Hippo/MST signaling, and genomic stability. RASSF1A is one of the most frequently epigenetically silenced tumor suppressors in human cancer.
Typical modulation in cancer: ↓ RASSF1A expression or function is generally tumor-promoting. Loss of RASSF1A, commonly through promoter hypermethylation, is associated with increased proliferation, impaired apoptosis, chromosomal instability, invasion, metastasis, and poorer prognosis in many cancer types. Restoration or increased expression of RASSF1A is generally considered anticancer.
