| CARTPT (CART Prepropeptide; CART) — Neuropeptide precursor that is proteolytically processed into biologically active cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) peptides. CART peptides regulate appetite, energy balance, body weight, reward, addiction, stress responses, and neuroendocrine signaling. Typical modulation in cancer: No universal cancer-associated direction. CART/CARTPT has been investigated in selected neuroendocrine and tumor contexts, but it is not currently a broadly established oncogenic or tumor-suppressive target. Typical modulation in Alzheimer’s disease: Potentially relevant through neuropeptide signaling, neuronal survival, energy balance, and stress-response pathways, but there is no sufficiently established universal AD-specific direction. |
