| Type: |
FKBP5 shares characteristics with other FKBPs, it also has unique features, especially its role in the regulation of multiple signalling pathways and in tumourigenesis and chemoresistance.
Major function of FKBP5 is its involvement in the modulation of steroid receptor function, including progesterone, androgen(AR) and glucocorticoid receptors (GR), by forming a complex with the heat shock proteins Hsp90/Hsp70.
FKBP5 is a critical regulator of stress responses and has significant implications in cancer biology. Its expression is often associated with poor prognosis and increased tumor aggressiveness across various cancer types.
