Nestin is an intermediate filament protein originally identified in neural stem cells.

High nestin expression is frequently observed in glioblastoma and other high-grade brain tumors.
– Its expression is associated with tumor stem cell populations that contribute to therapy resistance and tumor recurrence.
High nestin expression is generally correlated with poorer prognosis, including reduced overall survival and higher recurrence rates.
– In several tumor types, nestin is considered a marker of high malignancy and aggressive behavior.
