PDHB (pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 beta subunit) is a component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) complex, which plays a key role in the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA, thereby linking glycolysis with the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle.
• Many cancers exhibit metabolic reprogramming (the “Warburg effect”), where there is a shift from oxidative phosphorylation to glycolysis. Some studies have reported a downregulation of PDHB in tumors, which may contribute to this shift.
