miR-17 is a core component of the miR-17-92 polycistronic cluster, one of the most important oncogenic microRNA networks in cancer. miR-17 itself has dual (context-dependent) roles, but in most cancers it functions as an oncomiR that promotes proliferation, survival, angiogenesis, and immune evasion.
