MIF has been shown to promote the proliferation and survival of cancer cells. MIF levels in the blood or tumor tissue may correlate with disease progression or poor prognosis. MIF is often overexpressed in several types of cancers, including breast, lung, colorectal, pancreatic, and gastric cancers.
