Poor perfusion refers to inadequate blood flow to tissues, which can lead to a variety of complications, especially in patients with cancer.
Cancerous tumors often develop in a way that disrupts normal blood flow. The rapid growth of tumors can outpace the development of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), leading to areas of poor perfusion within the tumor. This can result in hypoxia (low oxygen levels) in tumor cells, which can promote aggressive tumor behavior and resistance to therapy.
