SFRP5 (Secreted Frizzled-Related Protein 5) is a member of the SFRP family of proteins, which are known to play a role in regulating the Wnt signaling pathway.
SFRP5 has been found to act as a tumor suppressor. It inhibits the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which is often aberrantly activated in various types of cancer, including colorectal, breast, and lung cancers.
SFRP5 expression is frequently downregulated or lost in cancer cells.
