Bone Morphogenetic Protein 3 (BMP3) is a member of the TGF-β superfamily, which plays a crucial role in regulating cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis.
Tumor Suppressor Role
Expression: BMP3 has been identified as a potential tumor suppressor in various cancers. Its expression can be downregulated in several malignancies, which may contribute to tumor progression.
Prognosis: Low levels of BMP3 expression have been associated with poor prognosis in certain cancers, including colorectal cancer and gastric cancer. Restoration of BMP3 expression in cancer cells has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis.
